A Smarter Way to Feed. Extruded Nutrition Your Horse Can Actually Use.

Kahoots EX is a 14% protein, forage-first extruded horse feed that changes where nutrition happens. Extrusion cooking opens up proteins and starches so your horse digests them in the foregut — where they belong — instead of passing them to the hindgut. The result is more usable nutrition from every pound, steadier energy, and a feed that supports body condition, topline, and hoof health without a stack of add-on supplements.

The Problem Isn't How Much You Feed. It's How Much They Use.

Most feeding problems aren't about how much goes in the bucket — they're about how much your horse actually uses. Traditional textured and pelleted feeds leave digestion to chance: grains get sorted, starch slips past the foregut, and nutrients exit unused. So owners compensate the only way they can — bigger scoops, more supplements, more worry.

The Bottomless Scoop

The Bottomless Scoop

You keep adding to the scoop, but the weight and topline never quite come. With traditional textured and pelleted feeds, a share of the protein and starch passes through without ever being absorbed — so you pay for nutrition your horse never uses.

The Hindgut Gamble

The Hindgut Gamble

Starch that isn't digested in the foregut ferments in the hindgut, where it can disrupt the microbial balance your horse's whole digestive system depends on. The more unprocessed grain in the bucket, the more you're rolling the dice at every meal.

Sugar & Starch Worry

Sugar & Starch Worry

You've been told to fear sugar and starch, so you cut energy — and lose condition and performance with it. But sugar isn't really the problem. Where it ends up is. Starve the diet of energy and you solve nothing; you just get a harder keeper.

The Supplement Stack

The Supplement Stack

A balancer for the vitamins. Biotin for the hooves. Something for the gut. When a feed doesn't deliver complete nutrition on its own, the supplement shelf fills the gap — at real cost, with real guesswork about what's actually working.

Why Extruded? Safer Energy. More of It Used.

Kahoots EX starts with whole-food ingredients — suncured alfalfa, timothy hay, oats, and barley — then cooks them under heat and pressure through advanced extrusion. That process gelatinizes starches and opens up proteins, significantly enhancing digestibility compared to traditional textured or pelleted feeds. Nutrients get absorbed in the foregut instead of fermenting in the hindgut, which means safer energy, steadier condition, and less feed required to hold it. Yeast culture and a probiotic round out the digestive support, and complete vitamin and mineral fortification is already built in.

  • More usable nutrition per pound — Extrusion makes protein and starch dramatically more digestible, so your horse gets more from every pound — most horses hold condition on just 2–6 lbs a day alongside quality hay.
  • Starch handled where it belongs — Cooked, gelatinized starches are digested up front in the foregut, dramatically reducing what reaches the hindgut — a fundamentally safer way to deliver calories.
  • Built-in pre & probiotic support — Yeast culture and dried Bacillus subtilis support the fiber-digesting microbes that keep the whole system steady, backed by gentle fibers like beet pulp and soy hulls.
  • Complete fortification, no add-ons — Biotin, selenium yeast, vitamin E, chelated trace minerals, and added lysine and methionine come standard — no additional vitamin or mineral supplements recommended when fed as directed.

Forage First. Every Ingredient Earns Its Place.

Forage leads the formula: suncured alfalfa meal and timothy hay come first, followed by oats and barley that extrusion cooking renders easy to digest. Beet pulp and soy hulls add gentle, fermentable fiber. Soybean meal supplies concentrated, digestible protein to support muscle and topline, flaxseed and canola oil bring omega fatty acids for skin and coat, and proteinated trace minerals and selenium yeast deliver micronutrients in forms your horse can readily absorb. Every ingredient does a job — nothing is there to pad the tag.

Feeding EX Is the Easy Part

These guidelines are based on a 1,000 lb adult horse fed quality hay at 1.5% of body weight — adjust up or down for lighter or heavier horses, and always feed by weight, not by scoop. For unique dietary needs, check with an equine nutritionist.

1

Find the Right Amount

Seniors, companions, and trail or light pleasure horses: 2–3 lbs per day. Horses in light to heavy work: 3–6 lbs per day. Split the daily amount across meals — never feed more than 4 lbs in a single meal.

2

Transition Gradually

Switching feeds takes patience. Start with just ½ lb per day mixed into the current ration and increase gradually until you reach the target amount. A slow change protects the digestive balance you're feeding EX to support.

3

Pair With Forage & Routine

Always pair EX with quality forage, feed at the same times each day, and keep fresh water available. For seniors or horses with dental trouble, the nuggets soften quickly with water into an easy-to-chew mash.

★★★★★
What an amazing product!

In September of last year, I acquired a mare in very rough condition. Although she was putting weight on with an increased amount of quality hay, she still needed more nutrition as her body was so robbed of it for the past several years. I stopped into your store and I was recommended your extruded pellet by your staff. What an amazing product! She LOVES it. I love your store and your products and will continue to feed this to her. Thank you!

★★★★★
A huge difference in all six of my horses

My horses absolutely love the Extruded feed. I've had all six of them on it for a little under a year, and I can tell you it's made a huge difference in not just their performance but their behavior as well. Most other feeds are high in molasses and/or sugar and that's not the greatest thing for the horses on the higher energy side. It's helped with focus, digestion, and weight management. I've also put my new horse on it that was under weight, and in the last couple months she's gained a healthy amount of weight and is right where she needs to be. By far an amazing product, I highly recommend giving it a try!
